Jimmy Altman is a First-Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, earning his black belt from Professor Bruno Alves on December 10, 2019. Shortly after, he continued his journey under Professor Travis Moore, who awarded him his first degree on December 10, 2022. After receiving his black belt, Jimmy moved to Temple, Texas, where he began teaching at Travis Moore’s Academy. With years of experience as both a competitor and instructor, Jimmy brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the mats.
Before Jiu-Jitsu, Jimmy was a two-time individual region champion and two-time team regional champion in wrestling for Marlboro County High School, building the foundation for his competitive drive. He has since gone on to win multiple IBJJF gold medals and also competed for multiple promotions, including Fight to Win Pro, Onnit Invitational, ADCC Trials, Submission Hunter, and Submission Underground on UFC Fight Pass, along with various smaller local tournaments. He has tested his skills in Gi, No-Gi, and MMA competition.
Jimmy also has a strong background in combatives training, having completed Level 1 and Level 2 of the Modern Army Combatives Program. He assisted in teaching an after-hours Jiu-Jitsu program at the Fort Hood Combatives Fight House, and began coaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as early as blue belt. Over the years, he has led and developed programs in MMA, Gi, and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, helping students of all ages and levels grow on and off the mats.
Today, Jimmy’s mission is to share the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, teaching discipline, confidence, and resilience while building a strong community through martial arts.
